Wedding Photos Tips

Your wedding pictures are the most important pictures you will have taken in your life. When you select a photographer you have to be very cautious. Improvements in camera technology has made it almost impossible to take a bad photograph. Many amateurs, prepared with refined equipment, are capable of taking decent photographs. However, there is much more to Wedding Photography than knowing how to operate a camera. Wedding photography is about seizing moments, capturing emotion and creating memories. The technical skills required to do this are essential, but it doesn't stop there.

Professional wedding photographers photograph people every day and not only have the necessary photographic skills, but are adept at handling people. How do you find a professional wedding photographer?

Initial, you must ask if photography is their full time profession. Even though you are not required to be a member of a professional organization to become a professional photographer, membership is a good indication that your photographer is very serious about his craft. Membership in the Professional Photographers of Ontario (P.P.O.), for example, requires that you are an active, full-time photographer. Another indication of your photographer's proficiency is the equipment they use.

All right - your photographer is a member of a professional photographic association and has medium format apparatus. What else do you look for in a wedding photographer? First and foremost, you must view the photographer's work. Not only should your photographer show you a variety from different weddings, but should also show you a sample of one entire wedding. This way you can see if your photographer can produce quality throughout the event, not just a lucky shot from different weddings. Don't be afraid to ask questions about how they would handle different situations, such as crying children, obnoxious relatives or fainting bridesmaids. If you are not comfortable with their answer, maybe you should look somewhere else. There are many types of professional photographers covering a vast spectrum of classifications. Though your photographer may be a skilled nature, commercial, baby or pet photographer, it takes a different skill set to photograph weddings.

A great advantage of choosing a photographer that is a member of a professional photographer's association is that they have the opportunity to become qualified and recognized. As a member of the Professional Photographers of Ontario, the photographer must qualify, within two years of joining, to retain membership. The letters displayed after a photographer's name, FPPO, APPO and LPPO indicate that the photographer has passed precise levels of the qualification program. Accreditation, a national designation from the Professional Photographers of Canada (P.P.O.C.), proves that the photographer is capable of delivering above average quality in a given category, such as wedding photography. It also means that the photographer books up pretty fast, sometimes up to a year in advance.

How to Look Amazing in Your Wedding Photos

For most of us, it’s not the easiest thing to relax and look natural and gorgeous when you know there’s a camera recording your every move. On your wedding day, you can be sure cameras will be clicking at you constantly. Those are the pictures you especially want to be fabulous, right?

Well here are ten easy tips on how to pose like a pro for your wedding photos:

1: Tilt your chin down a bit. For some reason, whenever people know their photo is being taken, they tend to lift their chin. This is rarely a flattering angle on anyone! You want to be sure to correct your instinctive tendency by just lowering your chin slightly; down to the angle you normally hold your head.

2: Straighten up! Although you don’t want to look stiff, you do want to have good posture. The first step, even for photos where you’re sitting, is to put your shoulders back a bit. For pictures where you’ll be standing, straighten those shoulders and tip your hips forward just a little.

3: Angles are your friend. You know all those red-carpet photos of the stars? They’re almost never facing the camera straight on. That’s because it’s a much more flattering posture to stand at about a quarter turn from the camera. Put one foot forward, straight ahead of you. The other foot should be turned to the side, in line with that shoulder you’ve already straightened! Although your body will be at an angle, your face can still be looking directly at the photographer.

4: It’s a good idea to do a little practice first. Go online or look at some magazines with red-carpet shots or fashion shoots. If you’re reading wedding magazines, the photos in those are also a great reference. Find the poses that you like and try them out in front of the mirror.

5: If you’re one of those people who are always blinking in pictures, there’s a neat little trick to avoid the closed-eye look: Ask the photographer to count and take your photo on ‘three’. When you hear ‘three’, take a breath in. It sounds crazy, but it works. Odd but true, most people don’t blink when they start to breathe in.

6: Assuming you’ve hired a professional photographer, be sure to arrange some ‘alone time’ with just you, your new spouse and your photographer. The portrait shots of you newlyweds can be really lovely and natural looking, but that doesn’t tend to happen if you’re trying to pose romantically while your wedding party and guests are looking on.

7: Don’t hesitate to speak up. If the light is bothering your eyes, if there’s a breeze making you chilly, if you’re uncomfortable at all, say something! These pictures are of and for you. Remember, the person/people taking your photos really will want you to look and feel happy.

8: Interact with people. On your wedding day, you’re surrounded by loved ones. When you’re posing for photos with them, let that affection show. Whether it’s a big, exuberant hug, a simple kiss on the cheek or a hand on someone’s shoulder, an affectionate gesture can transform a photograph from ordinary to extraordinary.

9: Find something to do with your hands. This is especially true for anyone in a suit or not holding a bouquet. For those in suits, a nice, comfortable pose is simply to put one hand in a pocket and let the other hand hang by your side. Another is to put one hand on your lapel, holding it just below your collar bone, again with the other hand at your side.

10: Only smile if you feel like it! Even if you’re gloriously happy, sometimes you don’t have a big grin on your face. Don’t worry about forcing a smile for pictures if you weren’t smiling already. The look on your face, your true feelings on your wedding day will be so much more beautiful than a fake smile. Relax and just know that no matter what you do in your pictures, your happiness is going to shine through.

Guide To Eternally Memorable Wedding Photos

Your wedding is one of the most beautiful and important days in your life. Something you definitely want to capture with great photographs - both for yourself and for future generations. However, a worst case scenario, could have you paying lot's of money for a bunch of pictures you really are not satisfied with. This article will walk you through some of the most important aspects of wedding photography.

Choosing a photographer

Your first task is naturally to select a wedding photographer. Most expensive doesn't always translate into "best", so it can pay off doubly to check out several companies and photographers. Also, you should be aware of that some photographers only offer the traditional wedding photography style, or strictly a photojournalistic style. It is best to find a versatile photographer that can do both.

When visiting the photo company you should inquire who will actually be taking the pictures. Salespersons often pose as actual photographers and try to woo customers. If at all possible you should speak directly with the photographer and make sure companies deal openly. You should also ask them to show several complete weddings from each of the photographers they offer you, so you can choose. Make sure the one chosen is the one that will cover your wedding. Otherwise, it is better to find a photographer that personally shoots weddings. A two-person team is an even better package because two points of view of the wedding can be taken.

In any case, the photographer should be able to show more than one complete set of wedding photos. Couples should not accept someone who shows only selected prints of their best photographs from different weddings. A photographer who can exhibit three or four complete sets of good quality pictures, all from different weddings, will probably be a very good choice for your special occasion.

Do not be afraid to come across as "too picky". Because asking intelligent questions will encourage photographers to deal openly with customers. Remember, it's your special day, and you should make sure that the wedding photography is something that will help you and your loved ones relive those wonderful memories.

The big day - one big photo-op

Once a great photographer has been appointed to the task, most of your job is already done. However, there are a few things to keep in mind in order to make your wedding as good a photo opportunity as possible.

The first thing to do is to give the most opportunities for the photographer when scheduling activities during the wedding day. When planning the time of the wedding ceremony and of the reception, couples should incorporate the time that the photographer requires to capture all of the couple's special moments. There should be a gap between the end of the ceremony and beginning of the reception, to allow for more photographs for the bride, groom and wedding entourage, especially if they are in two different locations. The photographers and subjects will have a more relaxed shoot and will enjoy all the parts of the wedding if the events are well spaced out.

Selecting a photographer that will provide unlimited coverage for the whole day is also a good way to ensure that none of the photography will be rushed.

The check list

As you see, the most important part with successful wedding photography lies in selecting the right photographer. So, to conclude this article, here is a short check list of things you should ask all potential photographers.

- What kinds of cameras does he use? Does he use medium format equipment and have a back up? Does have a "leaf" shutter or "focal plane"?

- What lenses does he use? Does he use only one, or will he change lenses? Make him show you photo effects that he is able to achieve with different lenses and choose the ones which you like to appear with your photographs.

- Will he provide photographs in both color and black and white, or would he charge extra for B/W? Dramatic effects can be made with black and white photographs, so ask if this is a premium.

- Are hand and digital coloring or digital color separation included in the package or would he charge extra for these? Better pictures are developed when the photograph colors are separated first, improved, and then printed.

- Is he willing to customize a package that is within your budget?

Wedding Photo Album

Your wedding will forever be a magic and unique day. However, these precious moments will flash by and you'll soon wake up from this fantastic dream of yours...Your photo album will constitute the visual memory of your wedding, and you will enjoy flicking through its pages many a time: they'll bring you straight back into your emotions on that wonderful day.

Here are a few tips to make sure you make the most of your wedding day pictures. First of all, you have to know that your wedding day will be the busiest day in the year (if not in your life..) and it is important to fix the photograph matter quite early before the event.

Take advice from other people: among your friends, or your friends' friends, there must be some people who have already dealt with professional photographers and who can tell you if they were satisfied or not. By word of mouth, you can easily find your personal photographer and know what you can arrange with him or her.

Your photo-album's quality and originality will depend on the agreements you'll come to with your photographer, including precise details on the pricing. Besides, if you go for a bunch of amateur photographers (friends, cousins, uncles) make sure you provide them with many films so that no one runs short before the end of the party.

Your actual photo album may be chosen by the maid of honour, or by the bride herself, or anyone willing to contribute with an amazing idea. Taking the necessary time to choose it will have a positive effect: if you rush at the last minute to your supermarket to get a standard photo album (usually sold for holiday snapshots), you may feel a bit disappointed in the end.

The way your wedding pictures will be presented is as important as the pictures themselves. Your photo album has to look like a unique object, a book filled with intimate moments of joy: therefore, make sure you get one that speaks for itself. A personalized cover, an effective thematic or chronological structure and also: the exact number of pages. Indeed, it is a pity when a wedding photo album is not full: it seems like some pictures are definitely missing. Many varieties of photo albums are available in shops, but you may also enjoy having it hand-crafted by someone skilful or bought from an artisan.

Among the moments that must not be missed by the picture shooter(s), there is of course the bride and groom's dressing up and last preparations, the arrival of the couple at church or at the city hall, the vows and rings' exchange, the first toast and champagne pouring, the memorable group's "cheesy" smiles, the buffet and feast tables, the dancing, the tears in dad's eyes... Hopefully, every picture in your photo-album will be a blissful snapshot of your own special wedding day.

5 Handy Tips on How to Survive Your Wedding Photo Shoot

A photo shoot is often something we want to get over with so that we can get back to our guests and get the party started! With that being said, the photo shoot is not something you want to go through half heartedly. By investing time and effort in this you will create lasting memories of your Big Day (and the guests will wait for you - they are not going anywhere!). To survive your photo shoot I would suggest you pack yourself a goodie-bag that would carry you through your photo shoot and the rest of your day - you can ask your maid of honour or a bride's maid to keep this bag of miracles close-by.

Tissues and wet wipes
A session like this can be quite time-consuming and as a Very Important Person (if not the most), you want to be prepared to get through this and still look like a million dollars! Tissues and wet wipes will come in very handy when it feels like you are melting away - a great tool for damage control!

Touch-up make-up
Standing around with a permanent smile while the sun is beating down on you is no joke, but at least you can ensure that you look absolutely beautiful while doing it. Pack some touch-up make-up, especially lipstick and powder to take away any shine left by the weather (or your nerves).

Brush and clips
The weather (wind) or just going through the motions might have an unpleasant effect on the hair style you spent so much time on - more additions to your goodie bag would be a brush and extra clips or hairspray (if needed).

Props
A colourful sarong that can double up as a prop or a dark blanket to keep your dress clean while striking a pose would be a wise add-on. Ask your photographer whether he/she will be providing these items, if not pack them yourself. This will be used whenever you need to sit down (or get creative) in an open field, on a beach etc.

Bottled water and snacks
The bride is usually way to nervous to eat something before the ceremony and way to busy mingling to have something after the photo shoot. Pack some light snacks to have in between shots, like nuts, a banana and a bottle of still water (cheese curls and Fanta Grape would be a bad choice!)

With this life-saver goodie bag by your side, you are now geared for any unforeseen events. Take a deep breath, bum in, bosom out and smile!

Preparing for Your Wedding Photo Shoot

It’s always nice to know what you’re in for when you have your wedding photos done as this will prepare you mentally. Important questions to consider prior to your big day would be what style of photos you prefer as this can be either traditional, spontaneous, arty etc. Another question would be whether you’d prefer colour, sepia or black and white photos; with or without frames or a mix of everything. This all needs to be discussed with your wedding photographer before the wedding day - besides the fact that he/she needs to know what your preferences and requirements are, the photographer can give you some guidance and advice on must-have shots so that the photos you imagine can take on real life form.

Although there are so many hair styles to choose from, keep in mind that you’ll have to look at these photos for ever, so I would advise against anything very different or extreme (the kids will probably just tease you about this later!). If you want your wedding photos to be timeless, go for a classic, simplistic hair style that would be easy to manage throughout your photo shoot and day.

Its important to have a trial run with your make-up to avoid last minute disappointment. You know what you feel comfortable with, again, this needs to suit your personality. You want to mingle with your guests feeling comfortable and self assured. Your wedding make-up should compliment you, not change you - rather keep it natural and fresh.

Keep the main thing the main thing - firstly you need to feel comfortable and most importantly be yourself so that your unique personality would reflect on the photos. But a girl needs all the help she can get and if a few props will help you to relax and have fun – why not! Take some props with or ask the photographer to supply some interesting objects that you can use during your photo shoot, for example a hat, colourful sarong (that will double up to keep your dress clean in case you have to get down and dirty), a wedding invitation, your garter, a cigar for the groom etc . Give your photographer some healthy attitude and the right tools to be creative.

We so often invest our precious time in things that won’t last – yes, its important that you look absolutely breathtaking but besides looking beautiful, the photo shoot takes priority as this is what you would take with you long after the champagne has lost its bubble. You can either shy away and lose out on stunning memories or you can forget yourself, go beyond yourself and have fun!

Wedding Plans - 7 Ways Summer Brides Can Save Money and Still Look Beautiful

Wedding plans - What is the difference between a summer bride and that of the woman who weds in autumn spring or winter? Aside from weather conditions none whatsoever. If we talk in monetary units, then weddings can differ greatly regardless of whether the sun shines. Wedding plans will nearly always consist of traditional items like the wedding gown, wedding cake, wedding flowers, flower girls etc. Wedding necessities as such leave no room for originality because most future brides will have a list like this too.

All four seasons create beautiful brides; however you have to plan accordingly so it stays that way. Summer brides will forever blossom as long their wedding plans cater for sweat stains appearing under the arms or the fringe sticking to the forehead. Not all June July brides are fortunate enough to have the sun beaming down on the day hence the importance of planning for this. Weddings incur major expense which is sad because every woman wants it to be special but special comes at a price. Special weddings come with a difference; if you decide to ignore tradition then your summer wedding will be remembered not only by you but for all in attendance on the day

Let us look at some options to help reduce cost

1 The bridal cosmetic content will have to be prioritized in the wedding plans. Sun protection is important. Photo shoots in the midday sun is a major health risk if the skin is not protected. Running mascara and melting lip gloss will not have the bride looking her best. Check for beauty products that can withstand climate changes. Some women tend to overlook the seriousness (not intentionally) of the suns harmful UV rays due to being busy with other matters.

2 Its quick its cheap its easy to send wedding invites via email, invitations can be prettied up with font change, colours and clip art. You have more chance of receiving a reply using this method.

3 A sit down meal is more expensive than a running buffet. Your guest likes to have the option to eat when he/she feels like in contrast to that of being prompted to eat at a specific time. Open garden parties at this time of year are very popular. Have a marquee on standby. Download music from the internet for the wedding venue, this will save money.

4 Does the wedding gown have to include layer after layer of satin, you can save money with less material. Also encrustation of pearls/ sequins can up the price. Buy your own pearl necklace/ earrings, this will save a considerable amount of cash and you can always wear them for other occasions. However if the dress of your dreams consist of gems then you can remove them at a later date and make use of them in many ways.

5 Save more money by wearing a plain off the shoulder figure hugging dress, ankle or knee length. A lace, fur (imitation) shoulder wrap/ shawl will set the dress off as well as give you protection from the sun or the rain if the weather goes against you. If you carry a little weight then have the dress not so tight.

6 Wedding flowers do not come cheap so why not grow from seed your own summer flowers for button holes and wedding bouquet. This is unique and will give you something to talk about or pass onto your kids when they marry. If your choice of wedding gown is short then a small hand held posy is ideal, if longer then carry long stemmed fresh blooms, after use place in a vase on the reception table. Have your flowers dried out and treated, add to wedding memorabilia scrapbook. Consider carrying a clutch bag. Bags and shoes can be decorated with finery to match whatever accessories you have hanging around your neck or on your head. Pearls can be worn long short to suit the style of dress.

7 Another expensive item is head wear. Have a dummy run and make your own; a hair band is easy and ideal for decorating. Why else have we the option to buy loose gems and glue? Remove a shoulder pad from an old item of clothing and cover with material of your dress. Add a little scrunched up lace and tack it to the pad. Sequins or pearls glued and shaped like teardrops can be tacked or glued to pad. The pad can be secured with pins onto the top/side or back of the head. A good imagination will have you see what I mean. If you cannot visualize fret not, the outcome will result in either a breathtaking awesome way or damn it way, if this be the latter then a beret or skull cap can be purchased for this purpose.

All those pennies saved can be put to a better cause like paying the gas bill, electric, water rates, telephone, council tax, food bill, car insurance, I could go on and on the list is endless. It makes sense to not overspend on wedding essentials that only last a day when you have a lifetime of the above.

Wedding Planning - Where Do I Start First

When planning your wedding it can sometimes be a chore to plan and to organize as to what should come first. It can also be confusing as to what steps in which direction I need to go when organizing events of my wedding day. Here you will find helpful wedding tips that you will surely find beneficial. The first thing you should do when starting your plans to put together a wedding is to set your budget, this is extremely important. Before you make any decisions you must first check your finances and decide how much you are willing and can spend on your wedding.

To me the next thing that should come to mind is choosing a wedding date, this may sound silly but believe it or not he can make a difference for instance, time of year and season will determine not only your budget but also friends and family who can attend. With setting a date and time of year for the wedding comes choosing a theme is going to be at beach theme, fall theme, some are winter? All these decisions are equally important.

Another important factor that goes along with your budget would be deciding on the size of your wedding party and guess that you plan to invite. If you decide to have a large wedding bridal party this can sometimes lead to big expense with gifts and rehearsal dinners, you get the idea. Also you want to be careful about who exactly you are going to invite. This will help keep the costs down.

Once you have decided on a theme the size of your bridal party reception guests and your budget now we can move forward. Some things may be easy when planning a wedding such as the Church where you plan to wed. Next a good idea would be for the bride and groom to go out and purchase wedding rings, follow closely by picking and booking your photographer, DJ and someone to film the video.

Where almost home! You will need to schedule and participate in a premarital counseling classes, I have done it myself and actually it's quite fun! From there you will need to decide on what food and refreshments you will have at your wedding reception hall and of course along with that would be choosing your wedding favor souvenirs for your special guest who attended your wedding reception celebration.

More on the home stretch now! From there it actually gets quite easy. At this point the bride and groom will get fitted for their gown and tuxedo, followed thereafter by choosing a wedding cake. Once you have all this in order to last thing would be to pick out your wedding invitations and prepare them for mailing.

As you can clearly see that wedding planning does take time and extreme effort, but if you give yourself enough time and careful thought putting together a big event, as well as a memorable event like a big wedding things can go rather smoothly.

Wedding Planning A Barrel Of Joys And Challenges

Wedding Favors are to symbolize the true celebration of ever lasting love and marriage. Even more its a part of a standing tradition, an acceptance of a wedding tradition where reception guest party favors are as much a part of the wedding ceremony as the marriage and legality itself. Wedding favors are a part of marriage as is marriage a part of unique wedding favors.

Anyone who has ever planned a wedding knows that, no matter how much or how little help they received, the joys and tears are definitely a part of the experience.

Perhaps the most frustrating thing about planning a wedding comes in the financial arena. As a soon-to-be bride, florists, wedding planners, photographers are known to jack up the prices. It's not simply a case of getting everyone in place with their dresses and tuxes done up just right. It's really a budget battle all the way through, especially if you are on a tight budget in the first place.

One area of wedding planning that seems to get a lot of negative hype is with photography. Most anybody is willing to pay the extra money to have their special day turn out just right. And unfortunately, most photographers know it. Many will charge a lump sum to simply show up, that could be as high as $5,000, in some cases higher. Solid advice is to avoid those who claim to have reasonably priced services yet still tack on a hefty fee like this. Prices for a photographer's services can range drastically, and references from people you know could be a welcomed piece of mind in your wedding planning.

Caterers, dresses, tuxedos - the three call rule is definitely solid advice here. Getting three estimates and talking to people who have used these companies' services is the way to go. But beyond finances, wedding planning also involves the bringing together of both families. Now more than ever, the bride and the groom's families are involved in wedding planning, and having too many cooks in the kitchen giving their input on the way things "should" be at your wedding can cause unneeded stress for both bride and groom. The two things to remember here are to keep a cool head, remember what "you" want for your special day and a little compromise probably won't kill you.

For many, hiring a wedding planner to plan their wedding can be a saving grace. For others, a wedding planner has been a nightmare, and they feel they threw away money for services they could have done themselves. When wedding planning, you may want to ask yourself if you really need a wedding planner. If so, think ahead of what you will need them to do, and be clear then hold them to your expectations.

Some have found that, with the Internet, there is so much information for wedding planning and so many resources available, regardless of the budget, that planning a wedding can easily done without an actual wedding planner. However, some who may be having a very large, or high profile, wedding may need one.

Like every bride, you have a familiarity with wedding planning and an idea of what you want your own to be like. But how do you translate your knowledge of weddings into a workable plan? How do you utilize your time effectively? These are the key questions you need to keep in mind when searching for wedding ideas that guide you in planning the wedding of your dreams.

Wedding Planning

There is more to wedding planning than collecting something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue - although this wedding tradition could be a brides best first step in organization. Just keep in mind that articles that you read are meant to be resources for planning your wedding; and by getting some expert advice, you and your fiancée will succeed in accomplishing each detail. In order to help with any wedding ideas you may be considering right now, we suggest the following steps:

1.) Take a few minutes to write down what your goals are for the wedding.

2.) Try to follow a wedding planning checklist and make note of the items that are appropriate for your wedding. Then incorporate these items into your calendar.

3.) Use wedding planning forms that help you stay on track with organizing the important details.

Wedding Ideas

Planning a Michigan wedding is often the first opportunity a bridal couple has to work together on a project. It offers an invaluable learning experience, one that will help in the adjustmental process once you are married. You may enlist family members and friends to help in the planning process. People usually feel honored when asked for assistance. For those who may be low on funds, it offers them an opportunity to give a gift of time and service.

Above all, remember not to allow any wedding ideas to overshadow you and your fiancés relationship. Nurturing this relationship now is vitally important to your future happiness. We highly recommend that you, as a couple, either participate in premarital counseling or attend a marriage preparation class (many churches, synagogues, and family counseling centers provide these services). No one wants to think their marriage will end in divorce, and by preparing in this way, you will lessen the probability of it happening to you.

If you feel divorce can be a "way out," then maybe you are not ready for marriage. More than anything else, a high level of commitment is the necessary ingredient in a successful marriage - and that commitment is to endure the bad times as well as the good.

Remember to set aside time before the wedding to become better acquainted with the parents of the one you love; without them, this wouldn't be happening!

Finally, do not take yourself of the wedding planning to seriously. Instead, take plenty of time to relax, to enjoy each other, and to grow in love!

The Easiest Way to Get Free Wedding Planning

So you are all excited at the start of planning your wedding day but you do not want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a professional wedding planner. You are going to have to pay for certain things anyway and it can be a waste to have a middle person doing all the coordinating for you. They will charge you handsomely for their services.

Of course if you have no time and very few contacts it might actually be better if you did use a professional but that is up to you. I will assume that you have decided to do your own wedding planning. That decision made there is no shortage of excellent resources for you to use to help you plan your special day
You cannot do the food or the honeymoon for free but you can with a bit of skill and guile do your wedding planning for free. Here are a few ways to do this.

Using the internet to do your free wedding planning

The internet is becoming freer by the year and there are lots of free guides and e-books on wedding planning that you can download. There are also checklists and spreadsheets for you to follow to ensure nothing is missed out. To find these websites type in a phrase such as wedding plan or plan your wedding and you will get plenty of help.

Friends can help you plan your wedding but choose them well

Its time to call in a few favours and use your friends to help you plan the wedding. Make sure they are reliable and not prone to stupid ideas. It is not their wedding, it is yours and they need to remember that. When we planned our wedding (30 years ago) I chose my best friend to help. Now he is a born organiser and administrator so we had a fantastic day and the planning and delivery of our special day was second to none. No surprise I made him best man on the day.

Between us we gathered a small team who came up with how we wanted our day to be. We added things in and removed other bad ideas over 3 or 4 meetings in our home. All the implementation was shared out and we had a fantastic day. This cost us nothing other than a bit of time and some careful choosing of the right friends. If you have good friends they will want to help for free.

Use other people weddings as an idea resource for yours

Some weddings are memorable and others are downright dreadful. There is nothing remotely funny about a drunken groom on his wedding day. Think back to the weddings you have been to and try to define what it was that you liked about it. Was it the music, the greeters, the cars, the speeches? Copy ideas from other people. If you are worried they will think you copied the idea tell them what you plan to do. They will take it as a compliment that you are doing the same thing.

Use your own ideas carefully

Your wedding needs to be your own day with its own character. This is a great bonus for doing your own wedding planning. You can put in touches that no one else has thought of. But this can be a problem. Just because you think it is a nice romantic idea it doesn't mean it is a good idea. Horse drawn carriages are great but have you smelt the XXXX that comes out of the horses? Mixing the families might be right or could be disastrous. To overcome potential problems run the ideas past your small wedding planning team and listen. In the end your vote over rides all the others but other peoples input could stop a disaster.

Destination Wedding Planning for 2008

While a traditional wedding in your hometown is wonderful for a multitude of reasons, many couples would rather opt for something more unique. One option is having a destination wedding. In recent years, destination weddings have become increasingly popular with some reports indicating that up to 20% of all weddings are now destination weddings.

A destination wedding is a wedding that takes place in an out-of-town location. Examples include a wedding on the beach in Mexico, a wedding aboard a luxury cruise ship or a wedding at a extravagant Caribbean resort. Virtually any place you can think of can host a destination wedding. Some couples have even decided to have their wedding underwater!

Destination weddings have many favorable aspects. You and your guests will never forget the experience of your wedding because it will be held in an exotic, out of the ordinary locale and serve as a vacation for everyone involved.

Because destination weddings have become so popular recently, many resorts now offer destination wedding packages, which include accommodations for the bride and groom, as well as all wedding ceremony and reception services, complete with a wedding coordinator. When you are planning a destination wedding, a wedding coordinator who is located in your destination is a necessity. Having someone who is familiar with the local vendors and resources in the area will make the wedding planning go much smoother than trying to handle the planning from a long distance.

Another great thing about a destination wedding is that it can help alleviate any family tensions that may exist in more traditional wedding planning. If the bride's family wants the wedding to be in one location and the groom's family wants the wedding to be at a different location, there is oftentimes family conflict and stress. With a destination wedding, you can offer both sides a unique compromise.

While a destination wedding can be an amazing experience, there is also a downside. With the average wedding cost in the United States estimated at over $30,000, certainly a destination wedding package will be considerably less for the bride and groom. However, there are still some monetary concerns.

If a couple decides to pay for the travel and accommodations for all their wedding guests, those costs can add up quickly. Because of this, the guest list for destination weddings tends to be much smaller than for other weddings. Also, if the couple cannot afford to contribute to the travel expenses for their wedding guests, many people may be forced to miss the wedding altogether if they do not having the funds necessary or time available to make the trip.

Another aspect about destination weddings that a bride may find difficult is her role in regards to the actual wedding planning will be significantly reduced. Because the bride does not live near the location of the wedding, she will have to have complete trust in the wedding coordinator to make the right decisions concerning vendors and other planning details. Some brides who love to micro-manage will find this situation impossible to deal with.

If you are getting married, consider all the positives and negatives of having a destination wedding. While a destination wedding isn't right for many couples, it could be perfect for you.
